![]() She was an awesome First Mate on her & Ross's charterboat "Sunnysider". Gathering family together for Sunday dinner at Nana's was a long standing tradition which brought great joy and fond memories. She is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior and reunited with her beloved late husband Ross Harold Cashmore. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, Antoinette Frances Cashmore, who passed away peacefully on May 6, in her 96th year. If so desired, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation or Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family. The family will receive friends at the HAINE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold this Friday, May 19th at noon and at 1:00pm a brief funeral service will be held in the chapel. She was born on the same day as Queen Elizabeth and seemed unstoppable, but time takes even the strongest of us. She loved her family fiercely and they loved her. For several years she enjoyed weekly rummoli with her cousins and she was always welcomed at bingo and euchre at Seasons Retirement Community. Her favourite things to do included meeting her sister and nieces at the casino for slots and the buffet lunch. Vera was an avid reader and for several years was a member of the Library Board in Thorold. She worked in the Research Department of the Ontario Paper Company for many years and created many friendships during that time. Vera was a devout catholic and long time member of the Catholic Womens League and Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Dear cousin of Helen (Ted) Pullen, late Josephine (Amadeo) DeRose, late Evelyn (Vic) Remigio. Mom was the last of her siblings, predeceased by brothers Peter, Leonard and James Walters and sister Vivian LaVia. Great grandmother of Casey and Nika Sauchuk.
